We are offering experienced Information Technology professionals, a unique opportunity to specialise in the exciting field of cyber security and in doing so take their careers to the next level.

Computer Network Defence are growing our Isle of Man Security Operations Centre Team, where we offer protective security monitoring services to a number of clients from financial institutions, to leading tech firms and even some clients in the Superyacht world. The best bit? You don’t need to be currently working in Cyber, if you have a background in System Admin or IT engineering, we can train you to put those skills to good use defending customer networks from malicious actors.

The role is both fascinating and exciting, you will be operating on the front line of the cyber security battlespace, defending our clients, responding to attacks and building a cyber threat intelligence picture of who the attackers are, from cyber criminals to nation states, this intelligence is then used to protect our other clients. All the time, your CND teammates will be on hand to support, train and guide you on this fascinating journey.

Job Details

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and respond to security events of interest within CND’s tooling
  • Report on client incidents and recommend remediation steps
  • Engage with wider services such as Open-Source Intelligence and Domain Monitoring
  • Triage security events and escalate them to Tier 2 after initial investigation if needed
  • In addition to the extensive training required to do the job, you will have a personal training budget to follow your interests.

Essential Skills

  • Knowledge of IT principles and willingness to develop those skills into Cyber
  • Networking fundamentals, including common ports and associated vulnerabilities
  • Familiarity with Security technology such as Firewalls or SIEM
  • Willingness to undertake intensive training to develop your skills
  • Ideally, familiarity with Microsoft and Linux technologies, being confident in the CLI
  • Experience in explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Certifications would be desirable, such as CompTIA A+ or Network+

Candidates must hold valid UK Security Clearance or be able to attain the level of Clearance specified.
